ShayKay's Review of Crazy Rich Asian By Kevin Kwan

******Book Spoilers*******

I just finished chapter one in part two. So far Rachel is just starting to learn about who Nick really is. I like how Kwan writes about all of his family. You get a sneak peak into all of their lives as the book progress, and let me tell you there is a lot of drama!

Astrid is probably one of my favorites. She is a very interesting person within this book. I feel bad for her for everything she is discovering about her husband however she does travel a lot and he travels a lot too. I mean when we really get into Astrid's story she is in Paris for her MONTH LONG shopping trip! But deep down you can tell she doesn't really want what all goes on within her life, at least that's how I feel by reading her story. She wants the perks such as that shopping trip, but she even mentions how she just wants to be home with her family.

I love that Rachel has Peik Lin in Singapore. I think she can help Rachel conquer this new culture. Even though Rachel has an idea of how a traditional Chinese family works she was never a child of that sort of home. It is talked about a lot in the beginning of the book about what a close relationship Rachel has with her mother. There are even conversations between Rachel and her mother that shows her mother is trying open Rachel's eyes to what she may experience while being in Singapore. But since Rachel really has no idea who Nick's family is she is going into this wedding completely blind. I think Peik Lin is going to play a huge part in Rachel's journey through Singapore. I can't wait to see what Nick's mother finds out about Rachel and what happens with this blow up.

Right now I'm at the part where Rachel and Peik Lin just showed up at Nick's grandmother's house. They are both in shock when they finally make it there. It was funny that Peik Lin had no idea that this place was even a part of Singapore, and she really seems like she knows all of the ins and outs of Singapore. When they finally arrive there she mentions that his family is one of the richest ones in Singapore. I'm finding it highly hilarious how all of Peik Lin's family is determined to figure out who Nick is after hearing that his best friend is Colin Khoo.

I am highly addicted to this story. I can't stop reading it!

Library Ideas

I'm about to have an empty room in our apartment and I'm debating on making it into my library/office space. Right now I currently have one super tall bookcase that is COMPLETELY filled, one small bookcase also completely filled, I don't even know how many boxes full of books laying in my car and throughout the apartment, and then so many stacks throughout our bedroom and closet of books! My TBR pile and my Already Read pile have completely mixed together to the point where I don't even know what is what anymore. I'm also currently making another bookshelf to go in our living room to double has storage and decoration as well as a book home. So even though I know I will continue to have books flooding the whole space of our apartment I'm thinking if I turned this empty room into my library not only would have my own little space but I might even regain some of my organization back! So needless to say I'm completely thrilled. It's a good thing I have a bunch of time on my hands now to do these kind of fun projects, but I'm for sure going to drive the fiance and the dog absolutely crazy! :)

I promise to keep the status of said library as close to up to date as possible. It feels good to be 'writing' again!

NEW BOOK! :)

So I just started reading Crazy Rich Asians and I'm completely obsessed. When I first saw it in the bookstore I did overlook it. Nothing really caught my eyes and we all know that when we are in the mood to go to the bookstore the clearance section is always the first spot to go too, at least for me it is. I prefer to buy books in whichever form is cheaper. The only time I will buy a book in book form for full book price is when it is a part of a series that I know I already love! I'll also admit it wasn't until I saw the previews of the new movie that is about to come out for the book that it really grabbed my attention. I mean for the past few years my life have been going 200 miles an hour and now that it is finally starting to calm down I can finally start reading!

I'm unbelievably excited to be reading this book! Even though the movie previews, along from my Goodread friends' reviews, ultimately grabbed my attention the first few chapters have really sucked me into this book universe. I can't wait to see what happens when Rachel starts learning more information about her man.
