I think this is going to be one of the short and sweet posts. It's going to be the average wrapping up the year posts. Definitely going to talk about the number of books I've read year, did I meet my Book Goal of the year, my average rating of the books I've read, and what my goals for reading and the blog overall for the following year!
So according to Goodreads, I read a total of 13,416 pages over a 40 book span. My longest book was Whiskey Beach by Nora Roberts, which actually made the top ten of the year, such an incredible book. My Goodreads goal was only 25 books this year so I definitely met my goal. I started giving myself a more reachable goal because in recent years I've been reading fewer books because of work and school. This is the first year off from school and my life has really been in limbo in regards to my job. My average rating is 4.5 stars, which is pretty good. But I definitely want to start being more critical of my reading. I know I haven't been really the greatest at reviewing my books that I've read.
My main goal for the new year is working through my TBR pile. It is insanely huge! I think over the past couple of years the bouncing around made the books just grow so much. I really enjoyed regrowing my book pile but now I'm starting to get really aggravated! I literally have books stashed all throughout my house and the majority of these piles are unread books! The fact that they are unread is what aggravates me the most. Plus I still keep buying books whenever I can. So for this year, my goal is to not buy as many books and start really getting through this crazy pile of books. I think my book hauls will only be new releases of books that I really have to have like An Anonymous Girl by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekannen, which I have been wanting since hearing about this book and I plan on getting it when it comes out in a couple of weeks.
I also really want to build my own bookshelf and start getting my library put together. I'm super weird I love to have an organization when it comes to my books but I want them to be placed in something funky instead of the normal, standard bookshelf. So far I've built a crate bookshelf which is super cute, I really want to make another one to go on the other side of my TV. The huge bookshelf project I want to do is involves two old doors that I want to rehab and then make a double door bookshelf! This is on hold until I find the doors and have the money to do it. I'm also thinking about making some hanging bookshelves. I think I should have all of my books out of the closet, off the floor, and just piled everywhere.
As for the blog I'm thinking of keeping it. I want to continue reading the books and reviewing them like I have been doing. I want to really start expanding it, which I started doing kind of with posts like the book hauls and the top ten of the year. I have kind of been playing with the idea of comparing the book and movie adaptations because I think that will be a really good project. I've really been trying to think of more content in order to still have something to post about that isn't the same thing over and over.
