Christmas Book Shopping Fail
One day right at the beginning of the month I went to the bookstore on my lunch to pick up some books with my Christmas money. I found two books which were total winners for me! They were both on sale so I didn't even hit the $25 mark to get to use my $5 off coupon! But they are both hardbacks, and they are Thunderhead by Neil Shusterman and Anny Boleyn: A King's Obsession by Alison Weir. I haven't read Scythe yet and I wasn't going to pick up Thunder Head but it was on sale for $4 and it's a hardcover. I couldn't resist picking it up. As for Anne Boleyn, I really wanted to pick it up because I've been wanting to try Weir for a long time now but her books are so expensive! This book is part of 6 books all following the lives of King Henry VIII's wives. Anne Boleyn is the second book but I couldn't wait to pick it up, especially since it was on sale for only $7! For example, the eBook of Anne is $14 on amazon and for once they are actually cheaper than the physical books which are always between $15-20.
The book themselves didn't fail for me but the checkout part was. I was in such a hurry to leave the bookstore and pick up some food before I went back to work. So while I was checking out instead of using my Christmas money that I got I used my actual debit card. Which didn't hurt too bad since I didn't buy a huge haul like I wanted so it wasn't too wallet breaking, for once.

Book of the Month Books
This month I had to get a book because I really wanted to get One Day in December by Josie Silver but my issue was that there wasn't anything that I was too interested in any of the books for January and I really contemplated on skipping this month. But I needed to get one in order to get the add-on that I really wanted. There weren't any member favorites books that I was interested in either. So I finally did some research on the books for January and while looking into them I became really interested in When We Were Vikings by Andrew David Macdonald. Plus the cover's really pretty, but in my defense, the book cover was only 20% of the reason I wanted to get it. It took me about a week to pick the book which is crazy since I normally have my book figured out within the first day of the choices being up!

I'm proud to say that I've already read One Day in December, which is one of my bookish resolutions for the year is to read my BOTM books within the same month of getting them. I haven't picked up When We Were Vikings but I still count this as a win since I did get One Day in December as a January BOTM and I've read it. I never said I have to read them all within the same month. It's a step in the right direction!
Wedding Shopping Fun
I went to the bridal expo with my mother not too long ago and since it was just us we made the day out of it. After the expo, we went to David's Bridal to look at bridesmaids dresses. We still need dresses for the wedding and it's starting to get down to the crunch time. After there we went to Sams and that's where we got some books. We got two cookbooks since I'm going to be off for a little bit I want to figure out how to use our air fryer and pressure cooker. But then I also got two more books. There was Of Blood and Bone and The Rise of Magicks both are part of Roberts's Chronicles of the One series and I've had the first book for a while now and now I need to just sit down and read the whole thing. I think it's only supposed to be a trilogy.

Christmas Book Haul
This was my last week of work so I really wanted to make a point of going to the bookstore for lunch one day so that I can pick out some books using my actual Christmas money. So while I was at lunch I went to the bookstore, my favorite one up on the hill versus the one at the mall. I got me some frozen yogurt and walked around the bookstore picking up everything I wanted. The first book I found was something that I really couldn't find. It's the Royal Secret by Lucinda Riley. It sounds interesting and it was on sale so I figured why not get it. I also saw it has an almost 5-star rating so I felt like it was a safe bet. The next book I decided to pick up was a new series, that I've been interested in for a while but haven't sunk the money into yet. It's called Vicious by V.E. Schwab. I've never read a Schwab book before but this one sounded really interesting ever since I heard people talk about it over on BookTube. So I'm so glad to finally pick it up. I still had some money left over and I really wanted to pick up Saga vol. 3 but the bookstore didn't have it. So I walked through the comic aisle searching for something else. I finally picked up Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey. I haven't had a comic in a long time so I decided why not get this one.

At this point, I think I'm officially done with buying books this month. I have sat it out to only buy so many books within each month. I love this system and so far I haven't had any issue even hitting the max amount of books and in all honesty, if I was going to have an issue with my limit it would've been this month with the extra Christmas money. But it wasn't an issue and I'm in love with my book limit. It's helped me save money and space since I'm not going crazy about buying books.
Since I lost my job I stay at the house 24/7 unless I'm in class. So when we went out to go bridesmaid shopping I took full advantage and ended up at the bookstore! I'm so happy that I did because I ended up finding Katherine of Aragon: The True Queen and Jane Seymour: The Haunted Queen! Both of them were used copies, and hardbacks, and they were only $7 apiece! Anyone who knows of these books knows that even the ebooks are generally $15 or more. So when I found these two I had to scoop them both up even though I haven't read one of Weir's work before. I really think I'm going to love them even though they are ginormous chunkers and they are in a little series following King Henry VIII's wives. I can't wait to jump into these. I promised myself that I wouldn't go crazy and only spend around $20 so I told myself since that's my limit I can still technically pick up one more book. I found Once and For All by Sarah Dessen in the markdown section and I thought it would be perfect since I'm currently working on planning and paying off my wedding.
